the internet is for...: post-Valentine edition.
What is the Internet for you?
To a lot of people out there on the world wide web, the Internet is a treasure trove, a macrocosm, the cosmos, the universe; an infinite source of knowledge which opens many venues of opportunities for a job, a life, love...
Here, I will take the opportunity to review a book I'd just finished reading.
It's called jemima j: a novel about ugly ducklings and swans by the author Jane Green.
It's an easy read at 373 pages. Your Cinderella story revamped; and since you know I'm an avid Cinderella fan, you can pretty much tell why I bought the book. I couldn't put the book down once I'd started it.
Jemima Jones--[I find the name very British. (Then again, the story is set in that austere country)]--is overweight. She finds herself tongue-tied and blushing every time she's in the company of her charming and sexy colleague, Ben. She fancies him but he only sees her as a friend. Go figure. Then she meets Brad--this time how very American. Guess where she meets this hunk-of-burning-love? Over the internet. He thinks however that she's this uber sexy, gym-obssessed girl. Why?

I type twenty-seven, but Geraldine stops me just as I'm about to press RETURN, to send the words to him.
"Don't say twenty-senven," she urges. "You don't have to tell the truth on this..."
So I do, realizing she's absolutely right. I don't have to tell the truth on the Internet. About anything.
She goes on to reinvent herself into JJ, the bone-thin model she portrays herself to be in her emails and finally in real life. Ultimately finding out who she really is.

Now back to the topic: What is the Internet for?
Med Student: sex.

Texan bride: chat.
Joel: it's to globally connect people through computers with communication and media.
angel: searches.

Med Student: ah, let me change my answer. the internet is for communicating our needs and interests through.. ahem.

Med Student: hehehehehe

G: information.
frisbee addict: riiiight. what's new in the webcamming world?
G: naaaaatheeeeeng.
frisbee addict: tsk. baduy.
